Our route is loosely based on Paul Salter's 'Bike Britain: Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats'. There are diversions to Bristol and Worcester to stay with friends and family, and to Arran, to avoid the built-up area around Glasgow.
The book is the best one I could find on the subject - there are detailed maps and the route takes minor roads where possible. Once the route was finalised, it was mapped online at Bikemap.net. This took a while!
